Folders with locks

Hi all

I have just installed windows 7 yesterday and I was trying to install various apps . I have installed a video player and downloaded some extra skins for the player.

My problem starts here, I have downloaded the skins directly into the program files directory where the video player was and I can't see the folders that I have created when I downloaded the files. If I try and download again, the folders are only visible in the download window with a small lock on the corner, and whatever I do in the explorer, I can't find the folders.

Also, if I right click on the folder that contains the locked folders, then it shows that there are 10 subfolders where I can only see 2 of them.

Is this something new to windows 7?
What am I doing wrong.. can anyone please help me?

You will need full admin access to move items into the folders under program files due to the Dual rights system used on Windows 7.

If you save to a location that your std user identity has rights to - my documents or such. when downloaded you can then move the files to their required locations, you may see a UAC prompt depending on the level it's set at.

This is due to the extra security in Windows 7 to better protect the programs files but has been a requirement for developers not to use this area for user files since windows NT3.5

To see the folders, you need to uncheck the tick-box "don't show hidden files and folders".

To access folders you can't access, you need to take ownership of the parent folder, and either add your own username with full permission to the parent folder, or give the users or authenticated users full permission for the parent folder.

If you haven't made earlier security changes, the permissions will be delegated to the child folders.
