Thank you for responding on this thread. (Closed or I would have posted under that one.)

Based on your review of my logs, it appears that my Windows installation is not genuine. This is surprising and disappointing. The machine is about 5 years old and was built for me by someone who I can't follow up with. Until these BSOD issues in the last few days, I have been 100% satisfied with the machine and especially Windows 7.

Hoping to rule out failure of the RAM sticks, I ran the MemTest+ check for a while the other night. It completed 10 consecutive passes with no errors found so I would assume that I can rule out failure of the hardware.

My question, somewhat broad in nature is this: I found online an new Windows 7 disc and license for about $70. It's on its way here. On a system that has been otherwise stable and meets my needs, is it likely that a new install of an official copy of Windows 7 will resolve the kinds of BSOD issues that I've been having? I don't want to buy a new machine (especially not with Windows 8) so if buying a Win7 installation will resolve it, that seems reasonable to me.

I guess I am just hoping that I don't have to replace the machine entirely. If so, I'd rather know that before installing this genuine version of Win7 on this machine.

The system meets my needs: it has 4 GB RAM, a 256 GB SSD, a quad-core processor... and I love Win7. I just want to get this machine working again.

Sorry for the long, somewhat unfocused post. I'm hoping for some informed recommendations on whether or not to use this Win7 installation that is on the way to me. Thoughts anyone?
