just switched back to 7 from 8 [ i had too many issues w/ 8 it drove me up a bloddy wall.] only thing i have to deal again was small text sizes and how increasing seemed to break forms.

like some installers text would run off or a button on an form would cut off. is it possible to increase these sizes w/o breaking it?

I remember when I wrote Explorer Property Page Shell Extensions, the default font size was 8. If I went any larger than 9 the controls on the Property Page got hosed. If the forms are standard Windows controls you may only be able to go up one size on the font. Unless you modify the theme. You might check with the people on the Customization forum here. They know these controls from the inside.
