Forgets sounds

For some reason the sound that I associate with an event for microsoft office and Quicken gets forgotten. In the sound scheme window the little speaker is still next to the event but the drop down list is blank. It is only for some events within the programs also. Some are not effected.

I have saved the customs sounds as a scheme and tried changing the theme and then back but the sounds are still not associated anymore.

Ideas?

I had a similar problem with the notification area (what used to be called the Sys Tray in the lower right). A program would not keep it's settings. I set the program to run in a Vista compatibility mode and that fixed the problem.

You can try setting the Office applications to run in a compatibility mode and see if that makes any difference. However, I have Office 2003 and use Outlook 2003 and my mail notification that I manually set has never changed.

Running in compatibility did not work. I further have found that my wacom tablets custom keystorkes get forgotten. Is there some custom scan that win 7 is running and changing/ resetting something?
