Forgot to make recovery disk, HELP!!

So my computer kept getting this blue screen everytime I logged on and it would restart on me.
I forgot to make a recovery disk for my computer when I first bought it.

I was doing some searching on the internet and I found a "ISO image" someone generiously put on the internet for my system (windows 7 x64 bit).

I was wondering if I can download it and burn it on my CD/DVD on my sisters computer (which runs windows vista.)?

be careful what your downloading from other people.... an iso is a disk image, download this, than burn it to the disk, you can than use that to boot up, and repair startup with that

her computer most likely came with a program that can burn iso's

when you get your computer started up again make sure to scan it right away with http://www.malwarebytes.org/

That's a fairly new laptop so there should be a recovery partition on the hard drive that you access at boot time with one of the Fn keys, often F11. Your Users Manual should tell you how to do this. Much better to do this than depend on a downloaded .iso file which can contain anything, including malware.

I couldn't find an English version of the manual at the ASUS site so can't be more specific than that, sorry.

Edit: If you upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista then please ignore my post.

Are you referring to the Win7 Repair CD which can be booted to Repair Win7, your computer's Factory Recovery Disks, or the Installation DVD ISO which can be used to reinstall Win7 with the Product Key on the COA sticker on factory pre-installed Win7?

If Win7 Installation DVD ISO you need the same version which was pre-installed or you can unlock it by running this tool: Ei.cfg Removal Utility Lets You Use Any Product Key With Your Windows 7 Disc Then burn to DVD using Windows Image Burner or ImgBurn at 4x speed.

Assuming You want to do a Factory Restore/Recovery
You can try tapping f9 to get into the factory restore menu.
I gather that sometimes ASUS has a thing called boot booster which may get in the way. If f9 doesn't work after a few goes tap F2, I think, to get into the BIOS. Turn Boot Booster off then try F9.

Factory restore/recovery will delete all your data and put your PC in the condition it was when you first turned it on.

If You want to run a System Repair
Given you can't make one. A reliable iso source has been given above.
The F11 (or F8?) key may require turning off Boot Booster as described above.

Why not create a repair disc in backup and restore, its easy enough,
you don't need any extra software, its all there already to use.

If you want to be 100% safe and certain that you have the right disk for your computer, call the manufacturer and order a set of recovery disks. The most they will charge you is $30...sometimes as little as $15.

If you want to do a factory restore/recovery that is what your recovery partition is there for. Ordering factory restore disks would be a last resort. It takes time, more effort, cost money - why do that if you don't need to?

I never recommend using a pirate .iso that is on some forum.
Most computer manufacturers will send you replacement disks in most case for the cost of shipping.

There are some really wierd people out there who would love you to run the .iso that you downloaded and created the boot disk. This way they can install all the trojans and bot stuff on your computer as well as your bank account and credit card numbers.
Not trying to scare but beware of geeks bearing gifts.
