I have a spreadsheet made in excel 2007. In one of the cells is a number with three zeros in front of it and one zero at the end. However it always drops the zeros and shows only the other numbers. I select the cell and click on "format cells", but there is nothing I see that will show all the zeros. It seems a little dumb--but maybe it's just me. isn't there a way to show everything?

It drops zero's after comma so 3,53000 is displayed as 3,53? You want a fixed number of decimals?

00065712 is displayed as 65712? You want a fixed number of characters in front of the decimal comma?

I simply want 00030260 displayed as 00030260. It's important that it displays it exactly that way.

It looks like you want to treat it as some kind of product number, actually some sort of identification.

No reason to summarize the values, no reason to order the values? So it's something like a phone number?

Don't type 00030260 but type:
'00030260

So one quote in front of it

Yes, it is a product number. Putting the quote mark in front of it took care of it. Thank you

Putting a " ' " in front, technically converts a number to text. Excel has an option to treat text as numbers when you are doing calculation. Don't know if all your numbers are 8 digits long or if you would mind converting them all to 8 digits but what I do when I want to show a leading 0(s) or what ever is to format the range to a custom format such as this: (choose custom and type in the amount of zero's you want in your format) Then you can type in 30260 and it will automatically show the leading 3 zeros :p
