Greetings,
I'm using Win 7 as my primary system for some time and it turns out, that I don't need xp anymore. However when I try to format partition on which XP is installed I got "windows was unable to complete the format" message. Any hints how to do this would be appreciated.

Since you apparently have both XP and 7 on the same machine, before you reformat the XP partition, you might want to check to see if the Window 7 boot loader files are installed there.

This is generally what happens when you install Seven after you already have another Windows OS installed on the same machine.

If you reformat the XP partition and the Seven boot loader files are there, you will not be able to boot into Seven after that. Suggest you use the option in Seven to Create A System Repair Disk before you reformat the XP partition. That will allow you to boot from that disk and run Startup Repair to reinstall your boot loader files.

I'm not sure about boot files for Seven being on drive E. I've installed Seven by booting system from it, should it have any references on old C (current E) disk then?

It doesn't even start formatting. Picture of an error goes here: http://eggdra.one.pl/mathiu/Untitled-2.jpg

Thanks for all your help.

use computer management in control panel to format the partition. You may need to repair your win7 install afterwards
