Hi mods.
Forum question

Is there a way of stopping a URL being displayed in its shortened form. I know it's always better to post the full URL so malicious links can be detected but say you get a link from a reliable source (hopefully sites like the BBC are) and post it as a link on the forum sometimes the link is automatically translated into the short form.

Do you mean links that change to show the title of the linked page or ones that use a url shortening service like http://t.co/4cJ1ZQ2z ?

just paste the url not as a link then it wont change to the short version, people can paste it in the address bar if they want

Here are two links to the same destination. The first is the original, and the second is as processed by TinyURL.com - shorten that long URL into a tiny URL

They both display the same, but that may not always be the case. If you mouse over the links, they will (or should, depending on your settings) display a pop-up showing the actual address of the link.
