Not sure if one really is better than the other; but my computer case has 6 fans in it including one huge one on one of the side covers and so far; Ive never had any real heat issues that Ive encountered. I can usually fix a heat issue easily by dusting out the dirt and or debris from inside the case and then possibly custom tailoring the power going to the case and or chassis fans using my motherboard utility program.
Also have a pretty bad speaker setup which is a klipsch promedia 5.1 surround speaker setup with huge subwoofer and lg blu ray player/writer. Also a hp officejet pro 8600 plus wireless all in one and a logitech s7500 webcam.
I have a 212EVO and it does a good job on my i5-2550K. I've not done any comparative tests though. It seems logical the CDC will do a little better by being able to absorb a bit more heat.
