Hunting for RAM power requirements and came across this little tool for Asus - is going to handy for my Asus build nay way.

Yeah mate the only thing with it I have found now is that it doesn't list some things such as the GTX 650 GPU in GPU's - but I suppose they can't list everything eh?

But on the whole it's pretty useful. Just wondering if the others like Giga and Asrock do something similar - will check out and get back to everyone / anyone who finds this helpful.

Hmm i couldnt get it to work on my browser mine,
Asus, Thermaltake, Antec(my favorite) have these tool, they give a very very rough estimate and then to round up(higher sales).

Yeah Chris most of the Thermaltake is based around this one I think as for Giga and Corsair (my favourite) I can't find one just yet but this'll do

Good finds John! It should be noted that the ASUS calculator can be used with any system.
I need a bigger PSU.

I ran my system on the calculator and it tells me I need a minimum 650W supply which is much higher than any of the other power supply calculators I have used.

Me thinks they are skewing results to high power supplies for their own (tech support) reasons!

Well I am leaning toward what you have stated TV as my build if I ever get to doing it has components which makes my planned HX 650 look as if it will not go the distance.

Calc seems to over-estimate the minimums. That tool recommends at least an 800watt PSU for my system.
I am chugging along with my Antec 650watt PSU just fine.

Yes I must apologise for the post it looked good but seems like I have made a bit of a gaff again.

No gaff at all John. It's the calculators making the gaffs so the PSU companies can sell higher priced units.

It's not bad, however like i said it gives a very rough estimate and rounds up...way up.
Anyways Let's not ruin this thread and instead let's make it stronger by updating it.

1)eXtreme Power Supply Calculator A power supply calculator most likely affiliated with thermaltake.

2)MSI Global ? Power Supply Calculator by MSI

3) Antec PSU Calculator It used to work for me however last 2 days it's been offline it may have been shutdown.

4) ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Recommended Power Supply Wattage Calculator Asus

Using all these together one can get a rough estimate of what they will need. Other than that all one can do is look up the numbers and do the math.

Chris, John had linked all of those except for the MSI one.
Using the others it gave me around 650W, which is what I have. The MSI calculator says 453W, add 25% for overhead = 566W so they all are kinda sorta ok.

I think PSU power is similar to gun ownership. It's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

Hum I found another one called PSU Calc that is very popular with the overclocking crew at Overclocking.net and apparently there were some bugs to be sorted and it's been finalised. However my security red flags it so I am not game to try it.

Oh and yet another for the tech heads but it s on another forum but has really useful links for PSU tutorials, info, pics of good and bad and reviews all in glorious colour.
