I have only had my new HP notepad a few weeks an already I have a annoying pop up which I don't know if it's a fraud or legitimate due to me installing new programs.

It apears after about a minute of starting up and can only be closed via the task
manager.

I have tried to locate it but have not really found my feet with windows 7.

Anybody got any ideas on how to remove this pop up or find out if it's fraud or not?

I have inclosed two images:

Image 1= Actual pop up
Image 2= Pop up and how it appears in the task manager.

If it didnt do this when you first received the HP (and I doubt it did) it a fraud. Do as Seavixen suggested and run malwarebytes.

Definite fraud, no reputed computer company would ask you to send a sms to "activate" or whatever it claims to do.

I agree. Why would they want you to send them an SMS to get an activation code when they can get it over the Internet? Simple. By doing it that way, they hope to gain your mobile phone number, which they can then use for other unscrupulous activities (or, at least, have these activities charged to your account).

What apps have you added prior getting that pop-up? I remember a warning in an HP desktop when I tried to remove an app (think it was Vongo ) that came with the pc package some years ago. Just disregarded it as it was bloatware. But this is new. I'd definitely follow the advice given here.

Or, you may wanna start clean via the recovery partition.

Some HP links you may wanna check out. here here2

Recover Windows 7 using HP Recovery Utility

If you encounter an F11 issue:

F11 HP recovery doesn't boot into recovery partition

Goodluck:)
