You right Wolfgang journalist do have to make a living. Most of the time they make their living bad mouthing MSE. That is what surprised me when a journalist said something good about MSE.

I have my own way to protect myself against malware. But nobody wants to do it. It's a free country so anybody can make their own experience.

Mike I have posted my way many times. But some guys gave me hell for posting a Linux solution on a Windows forum. So I got careful. No need to entertain narrow minded people.

I am not talking about replacing Windows - it is too good of a system. I use Linux only in a virtual machine to go on the internet.

Noscript on Firefox has worked so far for me in stopping drive-by virus problems. As a added bonus stops annoying adds and pop ups as well.

Granted, but neither antiviruses are effective, yet people loves them
And very few people actually speak about following good security practices. Permissions, limited access, firewall rules, encryption, safe browsing practices, backups and most important common sense only seldom appear on many security-related posts.
It's disgusting that many so-called "security experts" just recommend antiviruses and praying about computer safety.

The one between the chair and the keyboard must also keep them selves updated on proper security procedures.

Multiple malware-free backups are the only way to protect your data (apart from never connecting to a network, never plugging in an external storage device and never installing anything).
