A new theme available for download exclusively to customers running the latest iteration of the Windows client promises to deliver nothing short of a surreal experience. Just as a plethora of other Windows 7 themes, Surreal Territory is available for download via the Windows Personalization Gallery, free of charge. However, this particular theme pack manages to easily stand out from the crowd, and it is clear that the content was provided by an artist with a unique vision.

According to Microsoft, the Surreal Territory theme has been put together by the same artist who designed the new imagery for Windows 7, including the overhauled logo that is part of the default wallpapers shipping with every copy of the operating system. “The work of artist Chuck Anderson explores places only the imagination can go. Put six of his surreal dreamscapes on your desktop with this theme for Windows 7,” the invitation from Microsoft reads.
