Freeze ups with 1 Terabyte Drives

I see some others have had some problems with these drives being recognized. I am having some similar problems. I have a small 300gig drive that my W7 RC is loaded on. I am using a Biostar MCP6P M2+ MB and 3 gigs memory. When I boot with Paragon Disk Manager, I can see all drives, including the external 500gig Maxtor and manipulate them just fine. When I then plug in the SATA Hitachi and reboot, my system sees it. However after a period of time Explorer or some other program will freeze and the only way is to soft reboot the system. Sometimes this works, other times, the BIOS hangs trying to identify this drive. Remove the drive and all is well. I believe the other drive, I don't remember the make, is causing the same problem. I have just upgraded the bios an intend to see if the problem remains.. Otherwise, [except for not finding a magicolor 2300 64bit driver] all seems fine. Any ideas out there?.. both 1 T drives are less than a month old. I saw a comment about setting Bios drive wait times.. so will look at that..
What I can't understand, is why these drives can be recognized at one time, and then when transfers to them or searches are being done, they lockup..

Hello Charles & welcome to SevenForums.
Some drives, in particularly external drives are coded to sleep after certain time of inactivity.
My Maxtor 500GB backup drive is infamous for it and trying to even open the recycle bin is like pulling teeth.
If i've got it right, i think this app might help

Could not see the App.. oops, forgot I have to log on.. will check.. but the problem is not with the outside drive, but with the 2 internal 1 T's that I added.. If I leave them disconnected, no problem, but no use either..[G].. I cannot believe that both are faulty, and I have wiped them, created two logical partitions, each and reformated..

Which leads you to believe they're aren't faulty at all yeah. hmmmmmm. Did you have a go with the app?

Yup, works fine, I also filled the stats.. however I have not yet tried connecting either 1T hd .. I will do that later tonight.. if I can get it to boot, then I will run app again.. but what specifically am I looking for?

Plus at the same time, I will be able to see at post, if they are found..

What the app does is stop the drives going to sleep. I thought i'd mention it as more of a troubleshooting step, not a solution. If they perform fine with the app enabled then we know what the specific problem is.
Also, Have you checked your jumpers on the drives at all.

I think, to see at startup what's going on, type msconfig into the start search box, and under the Boot tab, select Boot log and OS Boot info. Apply > OK.
by doing this, it'll replace the glowing orb during the bootup so don't worry that things are messed up by that .
