Freezes on win startup logo for several mins 0xc00000f classpnp.sys

Hi,

I was wondering if you might be able to help me.

A few nights ago I booted up my PC, as I pretty do every evening and it quickly became apparent my computer was taking a long time to get passed the windows startup logo.

When I say a long time, it pretty much takes several minutes. The hard drive light flickers every few seconds to suggest activity. Once it is loaded into windows everything seems to working as expected. So it does actually boot up, just hangs on the startup logo.

I'm at a loss what has happened since the last time I shut the computer down to the other evening when the problem has started occurring.

So far I've looked at the following:

1. Go into safe mode to see if there is any improvement (noticed the system takes a long time on classpnp.sys)
2. Checked the event logs. I couldn't see anything at critical but a few errors during startup. Some of the ones I get are:
   Event ID: 7026 (Service Control Manager) The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
   DNE
   
3. Checked bios to see what hard drive mode using. I've tried both IDE and AHCI
4. Ran the Windows 7 Startup repair on CD
5. Disconnected all USB devices from machine
6. Disconnected slave drives (except boot SSD) Takes half the time but still longer than it should be. So suggests it might be a hard drive issue
7. Windows boot menu shows an error "0xc00000f the boot selection failed because required device is inaccessible"

Any advice would be really appreciated. I'm feeling that there is not much other option but to reinstall everything. However, I don't want to go down that road if it is fixable or hardware related and back to square one.

Hi -- A clean install is probably the road you are headed on. If you haven't tried a restore point, you might give it a whirl. Other than that, I have nothing. Hang around a while and maybe someone else might have a better idea.

May of received a bad Windows Update or have a Malware related issue.

This is what I think it might be due to. Restore points suggest a windows update occurred on the day before the problems started happening.

ok. this is really weird. Booted up later this evening and everything is ok. I did move my computer earlier today though, as I bought a new desk.
