Hello!
Brief summary of the issues: for about the last two months, my computer has acquired the tendency to freeze at random times. Sometimes, after several seconds or a minute, everything will seemingly go back to working. In other instances, hitting CTRL+ALT+DEL seems to work (though it could be that it just makes the time pass). More often, the screen stays frozen indefinitely and I resort to just switching it off. If any sort of audio is playing when this happens, it turns into a stuttering, pitched down drone - regardless of the audio source (VLC, iTunes, youtube, etc).
As far as I can tell, it doesn't matter what programmes are open or how long the computer has been running. Sometimes it occurs at start up, sometimes several hours after the PC is turned on; sometimes once a day, at other times every few minutes. Also, in regards to start-ups - quite often the computer will freeze then. It also frequently doesn't shut down.
Below are the basic specs and the attachment contains all the info mentioned in the posting instructions:
Windows 7 x64
- not the original installed OS on the system (that was Vista)
- retail version
- age of system: 3 years
- age of OS installation: 6 months
Thank you for all your time in advance,
ey
