hello. I have had issues with win7 freezing, so I re installed on a new hard drive.I have done all the updates avail for win7 and had some freezing issues. Sometimes the program will freeze on startup screen (colored floating square thingys), and sometime it will freeze after 5 or ten minutes of being in windows. nothing that i can put my finger on to repeat and say "aha its when i do this" So I will attache minidumps and Sf Diagnostic dump file and hope someone can find something.
I will also include a dump file from windows, but i think that is for BSOD, right? and i am not getting bsod, just freezing.
Thank you in advance.
ok couldnt attach the minindump file got a no permission error.
here is sf diag files

Welcome to the forum.

There's one dump from today. You have an errant kernel mode driver accessing paged memory out of bounds. In this case, it's AVGLDX64.SYS belonging to AVG Technologies CZ (or a rogue of the same name). Seems to be common with this antivirus. Did your problems start after loading AVG?

For test purposes:
1. Make sure Windows Firewall is turned on.
2. Un-install the AVG software. Reboot.
3. Run SFC /scannow from an elevated command prompt. Take special notice that errors may take multiple runs.
4. Install MSE and run a full scan after updates.

Report back.

All that's there is the find instruction.
findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log >"%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt"

The actual file should be on your desktop and named sfcdetails.txt.

Sorry to be so tardy getting back to you. :o

Looking at your error logs it appears there's software errors from all over the place. All appear to be caused by I/O or memory. We need to test memory and your disk but before doing that, I need you to try re-seating your memory module(s). Power off completely and unplug the power supply. Hold the power button down for about 10 seconds to discharge components then proceed with opening the case. While you're in there, check for excessive dust and clean if necessary. Make sure the memory module connectors are clean as well as the modules. A soft cotton cloth dampened with alcohol works best. Make sure there's no lint left on the module connections. And wear a wrist strap grounded to the chassis!

Run Memory Diagnostics. This is a Windows tool so you don't have to try and download any software. I doubt it would work any way until we confirm your disk and memory actually work.

Run CHKDSK on your C: drive. This will check your drive for errors and attempt to repair them. And you don't have to try and load any new software just yet. Use Option One steps 1-4 then skip to step 8. Since it is your OS drive, you'll have reboot and it will run at start up. Let it run. Do NOT attempt to stop it or restart it.

Run CHKDSK on your other logical drives (Partitions with drive letters) if you have any defined.

The check disk and repair processes will take a long time and is dependent on the drive size. Expect several hours to complete the checks.

think it is fixed. I sis this and no prob for couple hours.
This behavior occurs if the performance counters on the computer are corrupted. Follow the steps below to rebuild it.

1. Click Start->All Programs->Accessories, right-click on "Command Prompt" and click "Run as administrator".
2. At the command prompt, type the following commands. Please press Enter after each line.

cd %windir%\system32
Lodctr /R,

3. Wait until you receive the following message, and then type exit:
Info: Successfully rebuilt performance counter setting from system backup store

Then, check if the issue is resolved.

If it persists, the root cause may be one of the background programs. I suggest that you boot in Clean Boot Mode.

Clean boot
=================
Let’s disable all startup items and third party services when booting. This method will help us determine if this issue is caused by a loading program or service. Please perform the following steps:

1. Click the Start Button type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search box, and then press Enter.

Note: If prompted, please click Continue on the User Account Control (UAC) window.

2. Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray).
3. Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK".

Then, restart the computer. When the "System Configuration Utility" window appears, please check the "Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows starts" box and click OK.

Please test this issue in the Clean Boot environment, if the issue disappears in the Clean Boot environment, we can use a 50/50 approach to quickly narrow down which entry is causing the issue.
