I looked at the logs you posted - thanks. There might be one or two malwares that need an extra scanner to remove some of their hooks. I've included two scanners below, there might be more depending on what those find and clean.

I know it's difficult to work on a machine that isn't behaving well. Take your time, do as much as you can, but....
pay attention to the suggestions and requests for information.

I asked for a PUBLISHED Speccy report in post# 12 - you posted a screen shot.

Please follow this tutorial and provide the information requested. There's a lot of information in the report so members won't have to ask for things piecemeal.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/311593-speccy-publish-snapshot-your-system-specs.html

Then.... here's a bunch of things I'd like you to do - hopefully your machine will be more stable afterwards and that will make your job easier.

Please do the tasks below in the order given and post all results and logs requested.

Thanks.

Uninstall Norton using the Symantec removal tool: https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/kb20080710133834EN_EndUserProfile_en_us
It will ask you for the version installed - if you tell it the wrong product, the uninstaller doesn't do anything.

Clean start your machine: Launch System Configuration (msconfig)

Services tab:
View attachment 350710 Hide all Microsoft services
Press the [Disable all] button
Startup tab:
Press the [Disable all] button
Enable ONLY your touchpad if one is present in the list
Press the [OK] button

:busted: RESTART your machine now.

Download Old Timer-TFC
>> save the application to your Desktop.
:info: Old Timer-TFC is a standalone application, there is no install.

:warn:Save your work and close all open windows.
TFC will close ALL open programs including your browser!

Right click, run as administrator TFC

Click the Start button to begin the cleaning up temporary files and folders.
:warn: Do not work on other things while TFC is running - most applications use some sort of temporary files. Just let TFC run by itself on the machine until it completes.

:busted: RESTART your machine now.

Download Junkware Removal tool (JRT):
Scroll down to the bottom and press the download button

1. Click on the Save button on the Do you want to run or save ... action bar to save the package in your Downloads folder. | i.e. C:\Users\Dad\Downloads

2. Click the Run button when the ... download has completed action bar is presented
-> Answer Yes to the UAC dialog window

3. JRT opens a Command Prompt widow which displays some operational information. Read the screen and press any key when you're ready to continue.

4. The scanner initializes and runs. When JRT finishes, it reports the status of the scan in the Command Window and presents the log in your default text editor.
-> Save the log as JRT_SFProfileName.txt | i.e. JRT_Slartybart.txt

5.Attach the log file to a new post on your thread.

:busted: RESTART your machine now.

- according to your screenshot, you've entered your system specs incorrectly in the forum
- you're running with an Intel i7 930 CPU @ 2.8GHz

- not an i920 @ 2.9GHz..

Boot to safe mode and clean up some other stuff.

Do you use the environment variable EICDDrive=D:\

These programs have scheduled taks.

Recommend that you uninstall System Mecahnic. If it was purchased, be sure you have the key before uninstalling.
These utilities often do more harm than good. Lots of people think they will help their system though.
An even stronger recommendation is to never use any so-called System (booster, mechanic, fixer, doctor, registry repair, registry clearner, registry optimizer.... you get the drift)

There is only one tool I recommend for the registry, cCleaner, it is very passive and really doesn't do to much cleaning - that's good. I rarely recommend it unless I'm stumped and want to look but not touch. After looking there might be a recommendation ot clean one or two entries, but never wholesale cleaning!

Back to the issue: The scheduled taks might not be there after the other scanners ran, but take a look and disable the task if it is there.
Control Panel -> Administrative Tools - > Task Scheduler
Select Task Scheduler Library in the left pane
disable Google and Adobe updaters
on the task, Right click and select Disable
exit Task Scheduler

Then disable Gadgets in Control Panel (I think.....)

Restart your machine and ......?

ok i disabled and uninstalled all mentioned items. couldnt find the gadgets though, i'll keep searching. will try the safe mode again.

"Do you use the environment variable EICDDrive=D:\" what is this and how do I use it? is it in safe mode?

Gadgets might also be referenced as sidebar - the last tow entries in Control Panel (maybe???)

EICDDrive is, as I said, an environment variable. Windows uses these variables as shorthand to access known locations (USERPROFILE points to the current user's folder i.e. C:\Users\Dad)

I don't recognize EICDdrive, it's probably defined by an SDK - do you have any installed on your machine? Let me know which one (if installed and then you can ignore that it is set (methinks)

Any improvement after doing what you were able to do? Still freezing / locking?
