Hi all,

A week ago, after updating my mobo's BIOS (Asrock N68C-GS FX) with the most recent version, this extremely annoying BSOD started to haunt my PC and my nerves. It hits suddenly and when it most hurts - when playing Diablo 3 with my crew, when typing important topic as this one in some forum, when watching TV and seeing how my PC crashes in the background. Last three days I've melted my eyes reading all kind of unhelpful topics and forums with no reasonable explanations of this nightmare's apperaence and most important - of its disappearence. I've tried almost all of the advices I've read - memory tests - everything is alright, core temperature test - nope, it crashes even when the processor is cooler than my beer, installed all kind of windows and ATI's updates - same s...tuff. I hope, you guys, to have any solution for this devil's work, because the World of Sanctuary is a dull place without my constant appearence (especially for me) :)
I stay open for discussion and thank you in advance! :)

P.S. Sorry for my English - not perfect, but I hope it is intelligible enough :)

Welcome

Your bug checks do not give a probable cause
Please uninstall Trend Micro antivirus and use MSE. (At least to test)
Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows

Make a full scan once updated

Run Disk Check on your hard disk for hard disk for file system errors and bad sectors on it
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html

BTW, your system specs say home premium 32 bit but your msinfo says ultimate 32 bit
where did you get your copy of windows 7 from?

Hi koolkat77,

I've done the things you said I should do, but there were no bad sectors or viruses and stuff. The result after playing Diablo III for about 5 minutes was the same:

I run the SF test again and uploaded the results if they will be of any help. I could add that I have problem with my internet connection (randomly droping out) but I want first to repair the BSOD pestilence, then contatcting my provider for the DNS problem.

These BSoDs are of 9-10-12.
You need to update to the latest drivers for your ATI card

Follow this method:
  1. Download and install Driver Sweeper:
    |MG| Driver Fusion (Driver Sweeper) 1.2.0 Download
  2. Download the auto-detect tool for AMD.
    AMD Driver Autodetect
  3. Boot into Safe Mode from Advanced Boot Options:
    http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/666-advanced-boot-options.html
  4. Type in Driver Fusion in Search
  5. Remove all drivers
  6. Boot normally now, and install the latest drivers from the
    auto-detect program you downloaded.

Can you add more RAM to your PC? You have only 2 GB.

Nope, the same blue outcome.
But I found what's the source of all evil. I took a new 1GB RAM from a friend of mine, just to give it a try. Well, one hour without crashing. Tommorow I'll get another 1 or 2GB of the same RAM module, and if everything is okay, I'll close the tread.

The answer of your most reasonable question is a bit complicated to explain, but I'll do it :)
I'm planning a major upgrade that will cost me about 600-700 euro (about $ 1000) - (am3+ six or eight core 3 GHz AMD, 8GB DDR3 1600, good mobo, ati radeon 6850 1gb ddr5 and so), but these couple of months I did a lot of traveling around the country, Greece and after few weeks I'll go to London, so I can't spare enough cash to do the upgrade. One month ago my old mobo passed away and I had to get something cheap just to have a PC till X-mas :) The new mobo (asrock n68c-gs fx am2/am3/am3+) didn't recognized my old video card (geforce 8600 gts 512mb), so I took a second hand radeon 3200. Next problem - this mobo has 2 ddr2 slots and 2 ddr3 slots, so I had to use my old ram modules (2x1GB Kingston ddr2 800MHz) with not a chance to add a new ddr2 module. After the BSOD problem occured I searched for 2,3 or 4GB ddr2 modules but they are unreasonably expensive (3 to 4 times the correspondent ddr3 ones), and my mobo to recognize the ddr3 modules has to have a AM3 processor installed, the current being an am2+ one. Sooo... After my London trip I'll gather some mo, and till X-mas I'll have all the upgrading done.

Again I want to thank you for your support and your time. I'll write about the effect of the new ram modules.

Nope, 10 minutes after my last post, the same BSOD appeared even with the new 1GB ram module :(
Do you think a Clear CMOS can handle such an error, or the problem lays somewhere else.

Hi Britton30,
I've answered #2 post in post #5. If you want an answer for the Windows question: I've bought the copy in Local Store here in Bulgaria a year and so ago. Made a mistake when registering to the forum and wrote down diferent version (I really can't make the difference between home, prof and ultimate and if there is any other version out there)

Before the doc appointment, uninstall your GPU driver per Koolkat's method and....

Try these steps to install only the graphics driver.

1.Download the preferred driver and save it to the desktop.
2.Double click the installer and you will see a screen where it will be extracted to, change that to your desktop.
3.Open Device Manager through Control Panel.
4.Expand Display adapters and right click the name for yours and choose Update Driver\Browse my Computer. Select the driver folder you just saved on the desktop. Click Next.
5. Your system should say "Windows has successfully updated your driver software".

If you get a window saying you already have the most current driver, go back to step 4 and choose Uninstall Driver software instead. Then restart from step 3.

Hum that is a nuisance not being bale to check the disk physically but... you can't so Britons post is your best shot.

Am no expert like the others but looking back though - the problem started with that BIOS update maybe something in that causing this problem?
