Hi everyone,

My mom's pc, that I've build, is having serious issues. The frequence of BSOD's was almost one every hours...
So I've decided first to format and install Win 7 x64 ultimate, then I installed the up to date drivers (Lan, sound, chipset, gpu, webcam...) some were installed via the windows update manager. I've installed the USB 3.0 driver recommended on the Asus website, which is a Nec usb 3.0 controller... . BSOD's were still happening so I've decided to check the Ram, using memtest, I did 4 passes with no errors. Then I tested the CPU and GPU (the integrated one, as I've noticed that without the GPU on the PCI-E slot, BSOD's were less frequent) using OCCT for one hour on both with no errors... In the end I've uninstalled the USB 3.0 driver, as apparently it was also causing BSOD's.

I don't know how to check the other hardware such as : disks, the power supply (I changed it recently), and the motherboard itself. I am now wondering whether it is an hardware or software issue, that's why I'm posting here.
Before I attach the SF diagnostif folder, here are the specs of my pc:

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition (no o/c)
GPU: integrated: AMD HD4250, and the one on the PCI-E a HD5850
MB: Asus M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 2*2GB 1600Mhz
Hard drives : main : WD Caviar Black 500GB secondary : Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500GB
Power supply : Antec HCG 520W

If you could help me, I would appreciate it, thanks!

It looks like Kaspersky is responsible for the BSOD's.
Please remove it for testing purpose. Use Microsoft Security Essentials.

Recommended from a strict BSOD perspective, compatibility & stability compared to other security software:

Hello, thanks a lot for the reply.
I had the time to :
- Uninstall kaspersky
- Install MSE
- Perform a clean boot

Regarding the System file check (SFC), I tried twice to do it, but a BSOD would appear before it finishes...
So I did the next step, a disk check, it was performed before Win 7 boots.
I wanted to do the next steps but even when I'm lunching google chrome, the software would just crash and a BSOD would appear... I'm in safe mode now.

If it might help you, I have attached the new BSOD's since I uninstalled kaspersky...
Thanks for the help (some parts of the logs are in french, if you need a translation tell me)!

Edit: after some further checks, the temps IDLE are correct, no hardware is beyond 50°c, except for a sensor which is at 128°C - 262°F (TMPIN 2)? I think it's a faulty one. I still have a lot of BSOD's, especially with the BCC code 1e ...

Ok , I've uninstalled AMD overdrive via the device manager, as I could not find it in the catalyst install manager...
And for the Asus utility, I've erased all entry from the registry, I will tell you if there are further bsod's...
Another question, should I install the driver for the USB 3.0 or is it a cause for bsod's ? I would download it from here : ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 , it is from the Nec electronic corp

Edit : apologies but new bsods occured ..... here are the dmp files.
I am also attaching the data regarding the main HDD ( the Western Digital) and the second one, a Seagate.
It's quite insane though, I have a BSOD almost every hours... I've installed java to run minecraft and I had two bsods in a row... it's seems that I cannot install a thing without causing trouble, it may be an hardware issue ??

We need to see some more info here.

upload your MSINFO32.nfo file.

  1. Click on the start button
  2. Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.
  3. File>Save. In the "File Name" filed, put "MSINFO32" (without Quote), give the save location to desktop, and click the "save" button.
  4. Give the time for processing, it will save a .nfo file on your desktop.
  5. Zip it, and upload it following the instruction.
Upload the list of all the third party drivers Using NirSoft DriverView :

  • Download and execute Driverview
  • View > Hide Microsoft Drivers
  • Edit > Select all
  • File > Save Selected Items
  • In the Save dialog, Set the path to desktop, Put "Driverview" in the name field, and save.
  • Zip the .txt file and upload it.
Let us know.

Thanks Arc for your reply...
In a desperate attempt, I thought that formating and re-installing Win 7 the cleanest way possible could solve things, but it did not... So in the end I still have BSOD's, the only thing that I've done so far was to install the Chipset driver, the GPU driver (added to that the Audio driver of the GPU), the Realtek lan and audio driver. I know that I still miss the USB 3.0 driver and the ATK0110 ACPI driver, but as koolkat said, It was a source of BSOD's so I did not installed it.

You'll find attached the driverview and msinfo32 folders, I think that the latter is in french though, if you have translation issues please tell me.
Thanks.

You need to try to update the BIOS and chipset.

Get it from ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3

Let us know after applying those.

** If you are unaware of the procedure of BIOS updating, take the help of somebody who can do it. Iven if a PC technician. A wrong attempt to update the BIOS may be fatal; but the update is needed.

I have successfully updated the bios using the asus ez flash 2 utility in the bios, and regarding the chipset, I used the driver 13.4 downloaded on the official website : AMD Chipset Drivers

Should I install the usb 3.0 driver or not??

I'll let you know if the update of the bios changed something, thanks

Edit: I did not had to wait to see new BSOD's.... here are the dmp files...

Yes, update the USB3 driver too.

But this BSOD is showing some absurd result.

This driver cannot be the real cause of a BSOD.

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.

If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

Ef memtest86+ does not show any error, enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

   Information
Why Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.

   Warning
Before enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.

   Tip

Check if the Power Supply Unit (PSU) supplying adequate power to the computer or not.
eXtreme Power Supply Calculator
Also let us know the wattage of the PSU.

Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy. Alternatively, you can publish a Speccy snapshot too: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/311593-speccy-publish-snapshot-your-system-specs.html .

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

Sorry I can't do all that stuff at once, as even in safe mode I have BSOD's ...

So I've done the memtest test, and it detected no errors

I runned driver verifier and I did had BSOD's , but even before and after it was lunched ... so here are the dmp files.

I'll try to install the usb 3.0 driver, do the PSU test and check the temperatures very soon...

Thanks for your replies.

Edit : The PSU test recommends 372 W.

My PSU is an Antec HCG 520W, it has a bit more then 1 year old.

And here are the temp's IDLE

Safe mode does not use most of the drivers. So it is most likely chance to be a hardware issue.

Are the crash dumps from safe mode BSODs?

If so, it is a motherboard corruption.

But if not, remove the GPU. Try either onboard graphics or another GPU. Let us know how it goes.

Yes I think so. So what I did was to plug off the GPU from the PSU, I uninstalled the GPU driver, connected the screen to the integrated GPU which is a HD4250 and installed the driver downloaded from the AMD website...
I will also delete the previous dmp files so that you can analyse them with the current configuration...
Thanks.

Hi, Happy new year!

So I booted using this setup, i.e the integrated graphics, and I had BSOD's, the two most recent ones, occuring at 4.23 pm and 5.50 pm happened when the safe mode was booting and the last one when I was using chrome using win 7 with the same mode and the network enabled...

Thanks.

All three are different bugcheck codes.

  • BugCheck 1E: KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
  • BugCheck 1000007E: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M
  • BugCheck 50: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
It is a good sign of a hardware issue; specially when one of them are clearly pointing to hardware.
Code:

Here it what is done so far:

  • Memtest: Passed.
  • Temps: Within control.
  • Graphics card: Removed.
Now Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.
Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

Also, apply a known good PSU, as we cannot check PSUs using software, and testing the PSU in hand is fatal, deadly.

If those two also goes OK, then we have to conclude that it is the motherboard that is failing.

Do you want me to plug back in the GPU or test the integrated GPU ?

And as for the PSU I do not have a spare one, a good one to replace the one I bought a bit more then a year ago, I picked this one as it was 80+ bronze and it had good reviews... If the BSOD's point out to the hardware, I would just buy a new motherboard, if the GPU fails...

Sorry. I misposted. I wanted to say you to test the CPU. Really sorry.

For some reason I am not in a very sound mental state. Please understand.

Stress test the CPU.

Now try to manage a good PSU and swap with your system.

But I have not a spare one, can we then reasonably assume that the motherboard is the cause ?
What about the GPU that I have disconected, shoud I use furmark to see it's condition?
Thanks.
