FREQUENT BSoD

I need to answer a question you asked:
do i need to disable verifier when changing drivers?
Yes, Turn driver verifier off when uninstalling/installing drivers.

Please follow Jonathan's advice above and post back with the results.

have tested ram for 7 paasses per stick and 7 with both
have tested harddrives suing seatools
will try prime95

last night i couldnt even keep it running for long enough to do much so gave up, will try tomorrow, have a few more dumps to post, a few different ones ive not had before

if the ram is faulty should i be attempting to flash the bios? can it stuff out part way through flashing?

I didnt disable driver verifier when installing hte chipset driver, probably wy i have an error now and got BSoDs part way through trying to install, prety sure at this point it isnt software related

Did Memtest86 pick up any errors as all?

If you have a suspected RAM problem, I would not update the BIOS. Flashing the BIOS is a somewhat riskier procedure than most, due to the high damages that can be done if it fails.

Many people will not update their BIOS unless they are having problems. I don't recommend it at this point.

I agree with Jonathan. Personally, I would not flash the bios through Windows. I would flash it from the BIOS following the instructions on your BIOS site. But I don't think you need to flash it at this point.

Hi everyone

I have been having some troubles recently with my new build, about a week ago i started up and when i got into windows i got an error saying the ATI Catalyst Control had become corrupt (dont remember the exact error) so i went into device manager and it was empty... after trying a few things i decided to reinstall windows. it ran flawlesly for about a week and then wham 3 blue screens within half an hour.. then it started to run fine, 2 days later another 2 within half an hour and then ran fine, last night i got 1 blue screen and then it ran fine. im not sure what is causing this problem but when its about to happen some applications wont start or give errors when i try to start them then the screen scrambles for a split second and then BSoD and memory dump begins.....

Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks

Whats power supply are you using?

antec 750w i think, have swapped it with a friends and the problem presists
i would use the flash utility in the BIOS to do it, i had to flash it back to the version its on through a bootable usb drive because the version i upgraded to didnt support my processor and ran it at 800mhz so im thinking it may be the BIOS but not certian

Memory test came back fine
Have tested hard drives, no problems found
Have swapped vid card and problem remains

Will however test the cpu if it can run long enough for me to do anything tonight its getting realy realy bad
