Frequent BSODs started this weekend

Hi all,

I built a new computer a couple of months back and it worked without issues. I have the latest Windows 7 updates installed. I also updated my graphics card drivers (ATI 4670) with the latest release from the manufacturer website.

Anyways, this weekend I have had about 7-8 BSOD's with a variety of error codes, ranging from IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL to SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION to PFN_LIST_ERROR. I ran memtest86+ 1.70 (couldn't get 4.00 to boot for some reason) for about 3 hours and there were no errors reported. I believe the issue happens when I am attempting to view streaming video on the internet, since the computer does not have any issues while idling.

I thought the problem may be a side effect of KB976098 which was the most recent update installed before the computer began BSOD-ing, but even uninstalling that hasn't rectified the problems. I have attached my crash dumps. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi.

Install the latest driver for your video card from ATI's site.

Flash only works in x86 browsers so make sure you're using the x86 version of I.E. with the latest flash install from Adobe's website.

Or use any x86 browser and install latest flash for that.

Update these drivers or alternatively, uninstall from the system if not important to the system:

Update your Truecrypt to latest version.

Also, if you have AVG I can not stress the importance enough to completely uninstall that. It is absolutely the most horrific piece of junk ever. I must have fixed 20 or 30 machines with it by having users uninstall, all within the last week or so.

Follow my lead here with my recommendations and your pc will be good as new.

I previously had the latest ATI driver installed. The crashes happened nevertheless. I rolled-back and they still occurred so I went ahead and installed the latest one again.

These are LogMeIn drivers and I use that actively.

AVG has been running smoothly on my laptop without issue for a couple of years now, so I'm not sure it is at fault here. I've tried a few different AV offerings--McAfee, Trend Micro, Panda and AVG and AVG is by far the easiest to use. If you have any suggestions for another AV suite that is cost-effective please do let me know.

I still cannot see how these affect the system stability. Seemingly nothing changed over the weekend (I wasn't even at home so I wasn't using the computer/adding or installing new hardware/software). These drivers seem to be unrelated?

Anyways, I went into my BIOS and slowed down my RAM to 1066MHz (it is rated at 1600MHz and was earlier running at 1333MHz). One thing I did notice is when I changed it to 1600MHz and started up a stream, it crashed immediately. Since changing it to 1066MHz, I haven't had any blue screens but I haven't viewed Flash streams either.

AVG is your problem. I fixed about 30 machines with it and bsod in the last week alone.

Why do you think it took so long to BSOD, though? I've been running AVG for at least a month, now.

Dunno. All I know is that AVG is the problem. Completely uninstall that as disabling will have no beneficial effect.
