Frequent FNTCACHE.DAT corruption

My FNTCACHE.DAT file gets corrupt everyday, making many programs (DirectVobSub, Chrome, Notepad) unable to correctly display almost all non-roman characters. This is remedied by deleting said file and rebooting. However, I am wondering if anyone else has had this frequent problem and learned to fix it. It is very annoying now...

Yes, this happens to me as well. Any clue as to what keeps corrupting it would help, it has been driving me crazy.

I'd suggest you both launch an elevated command prompt and run "sfc /scannow" to see if any corruptions in the system files are found.

Thanks, I tried this and it seemed the only "corruption" it found was with the theme manager dlls like uxtheme.dll because I had a custom theme and theme manager set up. I realized though, after thinking about it, that maybe that's what was causing the FNTCACHE.DAT corruptions anyway, so I've tried without the custom themes for a while and so far it hasn't happened again. (although it's only been one day)

It could happen again, though. Previously this issue only happened every once in a while and restarting would fix it, but more recently it seemed to suddenly be permanent, unless I deleted the FNTCACHE.DAT file manually, or changed my locale which I believe does this anyway.

Sigh, nevermind I spoke too soon......I booted up my computer today and checked and Japanese characters were squares again......
