Frequent, random BSODs: Driver Power State Failure most common

My Alienware m17x is facing frequent and seemingly-random BSODs since I did a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium x64 with my included install disk about two months ago. The laptop was bought refurbished from Dell in October 2011. It shipped with a busted DVD drive and I had to reinstall Windows when it suddenly decided to stop booting in February, so I can't say what new or old problem is causing the BSODs. They are usually labeled Driver Power State Failure, although I think I saw some other types too (can't remember).

My uneducated guess is that it has something to do with USB drivers: for some weird reason (unrelated to the BIOS boot order, I think), the computer won't boot with a mouse or other USB device inserted.

I used a cool website called driveridentifier to find the drivers I needed after the Win7 install (Dell wasn't much use), but maybe they steered me wrong. Anyone know how reliable they are?

Also, I use Avast AV.

Anyway, the desired reports are attached. Let me know if you need anything else. Thanks for the help!

The predominant cause is indeed related to a driver power state time out. In yours something is causing your PCI.sys to crash. Probably your video driver so lets start there. Please re-install your video driver using this method.

When upgrading your graphic driver you MUST remove all traces of the current driver.

In order to do that we recommend using
Phyxion.net - Driver Sweeper

When it is removed then download and install the fresh copy.
