I just installed win7 and I have about 400g of data on a sata HD I am trying to access but having serious issues.

I have 2 hd installed.
-120g for my OS and main stuff.
-500g for back up, photos, etc..

I just installed 7 on my 120g, booted up and installed all updates without issues. When installing I unhooked the connection to the mobo on the 500g to ensure I did not delete it or install over it. Now I have restored the connection and 7 will not even boot.

Any ideas??

Was the second HDD the previous location of the boot records? You might want to bootup a live CD with a partition editor and make sure the second HDD has no active partitions.

all boot records were stored on the 120g C: drive.
The back up was the F: drive..

Unsure what you mean boot up a live CD with partition editor. Please explain and if you have a link.

you could look in your bios and see if the 500gb drive is set to boot first i have done this meny of times, if so change it so the 120gb boots first good luck.

Make sure your Win 7 HD is pluged into SATA 1 on your mobo.

Unplug the data drive, boot the Win7 DVD Repair console, click through to Recovery Tools List to run Startup Repair up to 3 separate times with reboots, as it will need to repair or rewrite the MBR to Win7.

When you plug the data drive back in, post back a screenshot of your full Disk Management drive map using Snipping Tool in Start Menu, attach file using paper clip in Reply box.

i will check it out tonight when I get home from work.
Thanks for all the help.
