Fresh install 7048 stops

My fresh installation of 7048 stops at boot logo. See the pic. What could be wrong? I had the 7000 installed before (installed it from XP on the second partition), and my laptop is perfectly capable of running 7 (1,6 pentium M, 1 GB RAM, Intel 915). So what could be wrong?

You could have got a corrupted version of it. I take it your HDD Indicator isn't flashing? What you may have to do is make a bootable disc by using another PC and re-installing (but you'll probably have to re-download, because otherwise it'd be pointless). You'll have to reinstall through booting through the BIOS though, remember.

But Windows won't allow itself to be installed if the computer doesn't have the right specs? It told me it couldn't install because my CPU isn't good enough.

Some times it gives you a message, some others it might cause a crash.

The case is like this:

1. If you have Windows 7 64bit version, you can't install it. It will stop at boot screen or most cases give you a message about 32 and 64bit incompatibility.

2. If you have Windows 7 32bit version, you must be able to install it just fine, except if other problems (hardware/dvd or others) get in the way.

If you don't know which version you have downloaded, check the DVD contents.

If you have 1 bootmgr file at root folder, it's 32bit.
If you have a bootmgr and a bootmgr.efi file, it's 64bit.

OK, i've acquired a new copy of 7048, tried to install it from freshly installed XP Pro SP3 from an Image. I was installing it on a new partition. The problem persists. And what goes for the 32 or 64-bit version, mine image has 3 files in the root folder, autorun.inf, bootmgr and setup.exe, but I got a 32-bit version. So I gues it is something wrong with my hardware? Pentium M1,6 centrino, 1 GB RAM, 30 GB partition and Intel 915 graphic should be enough, don't you think?

Disc? I didn't install it from a DVD, but from a disc image.

Let's just get things strait, because I think I wasn't clear in my previous posts. I downloaded an image of 32-bit W7 build 7048. I mounted the image in Windows XP Pro SP3 and copied the installation files to a second partition on the same hard drive. After the copy proces finished, the computer rebooted. After POS phase, the Boot menu loaded, asking me to boot either Previous version of Windows or Windows 7 setup. Klicking Windows 7 setup loads the splash screen, animating the Windwos 7 logo. Where previous builds of Windows 7 (theye were installed before) loaded the logon screen, this build stops loading. HDD activity light turns off, and nothing happens. I tried disabling boot devices, ending up with my HDD as the only permited boot device, but problem was still present. W7 7048 didn't boot.

What else can I try now?

There is a good chance that you downloaded the non boot CD version of the 7048 which will only install as an upgrade because it's not a bootable CD. There is a boot CD version of 7048 but it's harder to find and the .iso's look the same. Don't ask me why, but that is just the way it is much to my own amazment.

You can make a boot CD version of the 7048 by taking the 7000 CD and removing the contents and then putting the 7048 inside it but that is a pain. The 7057 I have will load as a boot CD but the 7048 will only install as an upgrade so you might try installing the 7057 because it will install as normal.

Try to install from dvd disk an remove all virtuel drive first

Yup, you're right. 7057 installed without problems.
