Fresh Installation "Checking for updates" frozen.

Just reinstalled Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) and i am having troubles doing the first windows update. I have googled around and it seems like other people are having this problem as well, here is a list of fixes i have tried.

I have tried installing both of the updates listed below, but they are stuck at the screen below when left loading for a few hours. When i try to cancel, nothing happens, and i have to end the process manually.

I have also tried the link listed below, and here is what it gives me.

When i ran it again, i got this.

and when i ran it a 3rd time, i got exactly the same result as the screenshot directly above,

So i tried to run windows update again, i got the error code 80244019, so i went to the URL Microsoft Community , but the "Turn on DEP for all Programs and Services except those I select:" was already set to the correct one according to the webpage.

Follow these instructions exactly.
First, set Windows Updates to never check for Updates.
Next reboot your computer, then install KB3020369, if not installed.
Then install KB3172605.

Windows updates should return to normal. You can then reset your updates to automatically check for updates if desired

And if you still have issues, which you shouldn`t after installing the above updates, contact Thrashzone, he has helped many people with windows update.

But you should be good after you install those 2 updates, but it still may take awhile to get fully updated.

Then, do not forget to make some disk images with both Windows imaging and Macrium Reflect after you`re all updated and have your programs installed.

So I ****ed up. When I rebooted my computer and logged in, the login window disappeared but the wallpaper remained, and it was frozen like that and I decided to restart the computer after 20 minutes. When I restarted it couldn't find any boot device, and when I used my original installation cd to use the startup repair tool, it found no errors.

I did what the article suggested and still can't find any boot device. Please note, i was able to boot one time after installing the two updates (And the entire windows update), and i never received any sort of secure boot violation error message.

Depending on how win-7 was installed boot error may differ
So it was set at windows uefi mode ?
Try disabling fast start too.

Boot back to your installation disk and use startup repair again.
How many hard drives are installed ?

Yes, it was set to UEFI mode with the platform key already unloaded. Fast boot is already disabled. Only hard drive that is currently plugged in is the SSD. Just tried the startup repair and it did not find something, however,

I was looking around in the bios manual boot settings, when i tried to boot directly to the hard drive, i still couldn't find a boot device, but i found a entry for a "Windows boot manager", i booted into it and it loaded up my OS and everything worked correctly. I restarted the PC again after that, and it seemed to fix itself and boot normally. Any idea what could of caused this?
