Hello,

I am experiencing a BSOD and here is what I have done:

After fixing drivers and reinstalling ISOTAP driver it seemed to BSOD again. So at the point I completely nuked both partitions on my disc and did a fresh install of Windows 7

I then went to the Asus web site and downloaded and installed all drivers this computer originally came with, restarted of course, ran windows update, restarted... installed one program: World of Warcraft. About 20 minutes into playing my computer starts to make the disconnect reconnect sound for USB devices. The only device plugged in was my mouse. This is the same mouse currently plugged into my other computer with no issues.

I currently have the computer in safemode and I am running BSOD viewer from nirsoft.net and this is the information that I have:

Apparently there is nothing that can cause a stop 0xFE. Strange. Apparently you dont have any USB device.

Anyway, Search for any possible update to your intel 5 series chipset, which contains the USB2 drivers there. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/
Also uninstall ASUS ATK.

Update the wifi driver, too: https://www.atheros.cz/atheros-wireless-download.php?chipset=37&system=6

Let us know for any further BSOD. If it happens, then we have to take different ways to get it done, by verifying/stressing the drivers.

hmmmm... went to the intel website and couldn't find the correct driver.

I downloaded the driver utility and after it ran a scan it showed me a blank screen where the drivers old and new would appear. I then did a manual search and it only lists the 6 and above series; no 5 series listed.

I updated the wifi driver and uninstalled the Asus ATK. Hope this isn't permanent as this is what lights up the keyboard on my computer which is very difficult to see otherwise.

I am about to try and simulate what was causing the BSOD ... Which was simply running Warcraft for a bit. And I do monitor temps, nothing above 77C.

I use a UTech Smart Gaming mouse plugged into the rear most port on the right hand side of the computer... When I am playing I will have a Logitech Headset plugged in as well. Though I never experience any issues with either of these while I am playing.

None of those have a tress in either of the uploaded files. :(

Anyway, enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers. Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

   Information
Why Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.

   Warning
Before enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.

   Tip

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

Okay no crash yet and that got me thinking... write now I am at my desk and when this was happening it was while I was on the couch with the computer... so I starting thinking about things moving around and lose connections.

Anyways through trial and error it seems to make the disconnect sound when I am moving the lid (monitor) back and forth lightly. However, the monitor is maintaining a steady image with no flicker as though there is a lose connection. However this computer does have a camera built into the top of the monitor and I am wondering if that is the issue.

Is there a way for me to view in a log some where which device is connecting and disconnecting? I am thinking to just disable what ever driver/device is causing this.

Looking in device manager doesn't seem to be very intuitive and as I disable Human interface devices I am worried to disable the one controlling the monitor and then I wouldn't have the ability to turn it back on without being able to see what I am doing.

okay so... two questions. even if the webcam is connecting and disconnecting, why would this cause a bsod? and second question: is there a way to disable the webcam or would device manager pick it up and reinstall it every time it reconnects?

Or am I doomed to dismantle a laptop?

Probably the webcam driver is old, that is failing to make the device configured with the computer. When the configuration is not working properly, the system detects an error, the driver sends some info to the memory that is not proper, and the computer BSODs.

To stop the webcam, search it in the Device manager. Disable it there.

Hello,

Just wanted to say sorry for not getting back sooner; I have been quite busy with work.

I am trying to find it in Device Manager. It says item description of USB Composite Device but when i check the only Composite Device in Device Manager the hub and port are incorrect.

I may just open the computer up and disconnect the camera if it is creating issues.

From your previous posts it appears that the webcam is causing some issues. So if you can, you please disconnect it and see how it goes.
