Fried computer-- getting same model-can I do this

I bought an HP Probook 6570b laptop, used, years ago. Loved it. We had a coffee spill and it fried my computer.Ok, just ordered a used computer – same exact model – from Amazon (it’s also used).Sadly, I had a lot of stuff on the fried computer.Now, I do regular image backups using Macrium Reflect Free. My question: can I install Macrium Reflect Free on the computer I just bought and restore my latest image from the fried computer and be totally okay?As an alternative, can I just put the HD from the old computer into the new computer. Would everything be the same?Mel

Both solutions should work if it is exactly the same you would boot a reflect rescue CD to restore to a new pc

The Macrium Refect may be a possibility It may work at a technical level, as long as there have been no component changes (by HP). It's quite normal for a device Model to evolve to some extend during it's sales life - even minor component changes on the motherboard could cause issues.

Where the major problem lies is with Licensing, this can affect any applications on the system but especially the Windows OS - All HP systems have the licence for the OS tied to the system and this is not transferable between systems.

What will likely happen is if the system works after transfer it will not activate and you will need to contact Microsoft ( they supply details on how to do this when activation fails), and you will have to persuade the microsoft contact that you are not trying to pirate an OS.

With what you have posted you are not trying use a licence that you do not have a right to, so I would have no issue with allowing you to activate the "new" system but it will in the final case be up to Microsoft
