Solved from out of nowhere, bsods!

hi all

just started getting bsod's last night from out of, well, the blue! no changes were made on my system that i am aware of, just same old same old. leaves me to suspect a hardware failure? run dual sticks of ram, so did the ole one at a time and crashed with either installed. chkdsk came back ok. system verify came back ok.

have been building comps for a long long time, have had all the usual hardware failures. i have to say, this is the worst prob i have had, my comp is just not happy at all atm. bsod every hour doing just webby research, comp will hang and hang and hang and then screen. at first, i was getting the normal instscreen, now they are seeming to hang, the comp becomes unresponsive, cant open task manager, etc.

any advice would be greatly appreciated! let me know if i need to provide any other info. i also noticed i seemed to be having some PNRPsvc related errors around the earlier crashes, so i did the delete file trick for that to reset and it seems like that error is no longer occuring, but the crashes are.

A failing SSD controller will do those very things...You did not list your drive type?

Get your valuables off of that drive just in case.....M4's are supposed to be good though. It was those early Sandforce contollers that could bite.....

Checked for a firmware update on the SSD?

have not checked on a firmware update for the ssd. would something with the firmware just manifest itself all of a sudden like it has? i take it my bug reports are not pointing to anything specific? thanks guys.

Reports come with BCC F4, often related to storage.

Update the firmware of the SSD and report us if there are any improvements.

have other spare drives, was thinking of just throwing another install onto one and see if my prob is fixed, most likely my solution if the ssd is going bad anyway, lol. will try the firmware update first.

Yes you can do that if it still crashes after firmware update.

BTW: Upload a screenshot of your hard disk using CrystalDiskInfo:

ahhhhh, didnt notice that up there!

kk, so that is my system reserve partition. its been awhile since i installed my main os SSD, and it was my first and i read some ssd optimize guides and set it up the way it was recommended, moving some stuff to other drives to save read/writes, and to be honest, im not sure what one of my 4 drives i set up that small system reserve partition on! lol. its showing as just a small 99.9 mb partition. so the "caution" is indicative of what exactly?

k, i assume you mean the bit with the 3 sliders. did that and now crystal disk shows all good, no more caution. think this may help my prob? fingers x'd. sounds like from reading that sys reserve partition might have been created by having more drives than my ssd hooked up at time of install. should i mess around with moving it back onto my c drive under the circumstances or can it stay on the raptor? thank you kool!

Do not mess with the system reserved partition unless you're planning for a clean install, though it is the better practice to maintain system reserved and C in the same physical HDD.

And let us know if there is any further issues.

thank you for your help kool. should i hold off on the firmware update for the ssd at this point and just wait to see if i crash or not after the above tweak with the other drive? been crashin regular so i will know in the hour here.

Update the firmware!

just crashed again, was just about to look into the firmware. system is hanging bigtime, wierd, explorer became unresponsive with spinnin mouse icon, unable to bring up task manager. but i was able to minimize and close out a game that was running as well, and the game was still responding. closed all aps and waited, system hung for prob 3 to 4 mins, then a center message came up followed by immediate bluescreen so i couldnt read the message. also meant to mention, when i bsod, if i reset, it will not load the os, i get the windows repair prompt. if i then hard power the machine off, i am able to once again boot my os. seems to follow this pattern every time if i do not hard power down the machine via the powersupply switch.

will be doing the ssd firmware right now
