Having spent many minutes going through every setting i could think of i have discovered that FTP does not work with 802.11n enabled on my ASUS K53E with Intel Centrino Wireless N-100. I have changed channels, configured mixed mode (2.4 - 5.0 etc) change frequency from 20Mhz to auto and everything else to (all one at a time).

With N enabled my laptop connects to the internet at 150Mbps and downloads and browses perfectly. When i open Smart FTP, WS-FTP or core FTP the handshake and folder population takes forever if it does it at all however if i disable N and operate on g alone (connected at 54Mbps) FTP works no problem. my router is a Netgear DGN 1000 and has the latest firmware.

Has anyone come across this problem and knows why this is?

Many Thanks

Tim

Maybe check the DMZ options are not changing when you bump back and forth from N and G ?

DMZ is just to put a computer on the outside of your routers firewall. This is defiantly not firewall related, the router always has N and G signal working it is only changed on the laptop, the problems still occurs with or without firewalls enabled or disabled, router and laptop.
