Full Screen Video Problems

I have recently been having problems playing standard .avi Files. I have a few .avi files sitting on my desktop, and when opened with VLC it crashes within 3-20 minutes . So I tried with Quicktime and worked fine... I thought it was just a fluke glitch.
Last night i open a new file and it plays quite choppy in Quicktime so i move over to VLC and it crashes... I tried with Windows media player and crashes in minutes as well.
Any advice is appreciated.
Possibly a video card problem???

Initial thoughts could be a driver issue with your video card.

Any thoughts? my first instinct is that it may not be a powerful enough video card but ive had much worse cards play avi files

No not to my knowledge. i attempted to for quicktime when it had said something about xvid??? but there was no download...

I'd start by making sure you have the latest drivers for that ATI card. It is plenty card to play an AVI.

Head to AMD/ATI's driver site and download the latest. Link below.......

No not to my knowledge. i attempted to for quicktime when it had said something about xvid??? but there was no download...

You should get a codec pack, Codec Guide would be a good start. Or you can download and use VLC Media Player
