The explorerframe.dll is for the back/forward buttons
The ieframe.dll is the Internet Explorer frame
1st make a http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/697-system-restore-point-create.html
then you need to take ownership of the .dll
& rename it & copy / paste the new .dll in
Right click on the file and go to 'properties'.
Click on the 'security' tab.
Click 'Advanced'.
Click on the 'Owner' tab.
Click 'Edit'.
Select your user and click OK.
Click OK on the next box.
Then OK on the final box.

Now right click on the file again and go to 'Properties'
Click on the 'security' tab.
Click 'Edit'.
Select 'Users'.
In the bottom part of the box, tick the box to allow 'Full Control'
Click OK then OK again on the last box.

You now own that file and have full permissions over it.

Now simply right click and 'rename' the extension of the file to .BAK
Then paste in your replacement file.

Is this theme only available with patched system files or without?
I have bad times with patching files: Vista Aero and Win7 Aero crashed and I only had the Classic-theme left

Logically, you would not need to patch the files in order to use the theme. I'm not quite sure as I've never used Aero (compiz geek here), but you ought to be able to.

Since we're talking about transparency here, I might as well do some semi-warranted self promotion. I wrote a program a while back to do some basic transparency effects on windows. Check it out here.
