Further instruction for cleaning up computer

Hi there fellow SF folks. I'm just done cleaning up my Dad's computer of Adware and Crapware and all of that stuff. I used the following tools:

- AdwCleaner
- JRT
- RogueKiller
- MBAM
- Revo Uninstaller
- CCleaner

I guess this should be clean now but I wanted to know if there is anything further to do. Any advice?

Hitman Pro is a good program too.
Same with SuperAntispyware.

When cleaning a computer the 4 main I use are HitmanPro, MalwareBytes, ComboFix and SuperAnitspyware.

I wouldn't recommend ComboFix, can render your computer as a football unless used in trained hands.

I also don't recommend using ComboFix unless under the direction of a expert.

Also... Uninstall SuperAntispyware when your finished running it. It leaves a service running all the time for some reason.

As far as I know most security suites.... have services that stay running,
mabm is no different,
This is how the utility/s stays updated as far as I know ?

SAS updates when you run it. I still see no need for a service running when IT isn't.

I use the pro version but it's process is barely detectable ?

I speak of the free scanner version as most will download from the suggestions on this forum. If you buy the full active (real time) version then yes it will have full time processes or services.

The way I read the comparison list is sas does still check for updates,
What the free version doesn't do is actually download the updates,
Would be nice to see if the process takes up roughly the same amount of resources ?
Which fluctuates a bit from 500k to 1000k I caught it at 800k,
I've had it so long now I've never even looked at it before

As I said, I don't see a need for it for the free version. I download it, install it, run it, set the options, it updates and scans. After that, I'm done with it. I don't want extra crap hanging around. MBAM free is different. You run it, update it and scan and it's done. It doesn't leave "droppings" behind like SAS.

There's a few other apps suggested on this site that "phone home" too but I'm not going to get into that. If you're worried about, look into it. If not, don't. I don't want to step on any toes.

Hi, one of the best articles that I've read on the subject is:

It does include advice on cleaning for advanced users and explains the consequences pretty well.

I'd always suggest making a system image backup before going ahead with anything other than basic cleaning.

Thanks all for helping out on this, I'd never have known about all these crapware removal tools if I hadn't stumbled across this epic community.
Okay so anyway, as for combofix suggestions, I don't think my dad's computer is too crapped up to use such a powerful tool. I guess I won't touch it unless something ultra bad happens. And I do use SuperAntiSpyware but keep that service running behind disabled so I don't have much problems with it. Thanks again.

Herd protect is a great other second opinion scanner along with hitman pro. Both can have multiple false positives though, so do not go deleting a bunch of things it finds. You can always post logs if not sure.
