g mod CMeshDX8...

since upgrading to windows 7 several months ago i haven't been able to play g mod, on many maps i get this error after loading "failed to lock vertex buffer in CMeshDX8:LockVertexBuffer", this message appears when i crash to desktop. what do i do?
