[Solved] Gadgets annoyance

I have set up two different internet connections for 3G and as soon as I reach data limit for one provider, I switch to other.

Every time Windows Gadgets ask me which connection to use to access the net.
How to set them use automatically active connection and stop bothering me? :shock: I can only tick the box for "do not ask till I log on again". How to set it do not ask more never! and use active connection.

Help needed

I'm not sure there is a solution for this... but what gadgets are you talking about?

Windows 7 weather gadget. I get window, asking which connection to use to update weather and I can only choose connection and to not ask again till I'm logged in. Right when I start windows next time that message re-appear, even I'm still on same connection.

Here are screenshots: Even it sais on screenshot, it will connect if i'm disconnected, I'm not disconnected when that happens, infact i've set connection never drop automatically and I have internet radio playing so sure the connection is active.

I deleted one of the connections and it still did ask me, seems it's some stupid option with modem connection Did disable Windows gadgets and installed Yahoo sidebar, problem solved. Going back to XP this weekend as I also did found out hardware profiles were removed in 7.

Hi again Kika - I'm glad you got it fixed but sorry to hear you're not happy with Windows 7. What's the nature of the hardware profile issue you're having? Is Win7 not recognizing some of your PC components or peripherals?

Well I have laptop so on XP I could set up different hardware profiles to choose before logging into windows (docked/undocked/networked) so while docked I had internal sound example automatically disabled because at home I have external 7.1 usb card connected with speakers. Under Windows 7 I won't do it manually and some of the programs set automatically my internal card as default and then no sound comes out from speakers till I manually change... which requier restarting program... I waist too much time It's annoyance if again next days manually need change all back again and again... Also I'm only one who can't print on network printer, no one else have problems (they all on XP). Those are just some little part of things that do not work. For some time all works and then suddenly something is broken and need search for fix... On XP all worked ALWAYS. After trouble with Vista I thought I give a try to 7 but this is no go, I will use my XP downgrade CD that came toghether with Vista and I'm sure will be more happy with XP.

Yeah, XP will work better with older hardware, especially something like a printer, and expecially on laptops that came with it originally.

Printer, scanner and sound card manufactureres are LAZY B*STARDS when it comes to supporting old hardware on new OSes. There really aught to be a law...

It's almost ok with internal hardware but external... Printers and scanners can last for a decade or more. The manufacturer should have to support it for at least that long. HP won't support anything across new OSes. I've had them fail to update a driver on a one year old printer! I wonder why I'll never buy another HP printer now

Well I'm back with 7 but have dual boot and is at second drive. XP for work and 7 at home (no offense, but for work it's system useless).

I solved this gadget thing - had to untick "enable autodial by location" simple as that Just ina case someone will have same problem.

Sure, you open Network and Sharing Center - Change adapter settings, then press Alt key at Network Connection window and from menu "Advanced - Remote Access Preferences" (it's on screenshot too I previously posted in here), and under Autodial just untick the box where it sais "Enable autodial by location"
