Gadgets disappearing

Hi all.

I maybe totally wrong, but I don't think I am.

Basically when I now press the Show Desktop button, I am taken to the desktop but all my gadgets disappear as well. Restoring a window or something brings them back into focus.

Now I'm sure this never used to happen because I have a website which I update with articles. I create an article and get the URL and then I'd go to the desktop - this was always done by pressing the show desktop button. I'd then use my Twitter gadget to update the sites Twitter feed.

Can someone please tell me I'm not going mad and when I used to go to the desktop my gadgets didn't used to disappear. I'm cracking up here!!

As a note, I think this seems to have only occurred since the last Windows Update, but not positive. Does anyone have any suggestions. I've turned the Gadgets feature off and on again after a restart with no success. Totally stumped because I don't like its behaviour right now.

I have just begun experiencing the exact same behaviour! Looking into it now, the only thing that i changed today was to uninstall Halo PC (Classic!)
Will post back if i get anywhere with it, hope someone can help with a solution also.

Thanks

Well i think i've managed to resolve this problem, well i say resolve when i mean find out whats causing it (For me at least)

After thinking for a while and following various other forum posts advice

-Disabling Gadgets via the windows add/remove features, rebooting, reinstalling and rebooting gain.
-sfc /Scannow
-Deleting all settings and giles under the C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar

All this didn't rememdy the problem.

I then realised that i, like many others had installed Internet Explorer 9 Beta. So i thought i'd try uninstalling it and seeing if it corrected my problem...... IT DID!

My gadgets no longer disappeared when clicking 'Show Desktop'. To be sure i reinstalled IE9 to see if the problem returned and it did.

So i don't really know what IE9 does to cause this but my problem no longer exists.

Thanks

Tom

You know what I was wondering whether IE9 could be causing the problem. I'll have a go at uninstalling it and see if that helps. Wouldn't mind I haven't used it again since installing it because it has issues with Javascript.

Yep it's IE9 causing the issue. Uninstalled and now sorted. Cheers

Good to know that it is just a problem with the beta, maybe it'll get sorted with the official release.
It's not 'end of the world behaviour' but annoying nontheless.
