Gadgets Don't Download

I have gone to the Windows gadget Web site (Get more gadgets online) and have tried to download/install additional gadgets to the gadgets in the Control Panel. However, when I click download nothing happens, or if I click on the gadget and then download it says install. Again clicking on install nothing happens. How do I download additional gadgets into the Control Panel gadgets window/folder?

Did same for me. Go to gadget you want, Click:

Download>>>Install>>>Open>>>Install

Gadgets

The gadget only says download and install. Once i have done that where on my hard drive can I find the file to open and install? When I download the gadget it doesn't seem to download at all.

I use Firefox and have its download manager set to always ask where to download files, so when I go here and select a gadget, it then opens a detailed page for that gadget. On the detail page, click the download button and save to a folder of your choice (I use something like D:\Username\Documents\Saved\Computers\Windows Seven\Icons and Themes\Gadgets). Then open that folder and double-click the gadget to install. (must have gadgets on beforehand - right click on the desktop and select gadgets.)

I use Firefox too. However, when I click on the gadget to download it doesn't even ask me if I want to run or download the file. Nothing seems to happen.

Have you tried downloading it in another browser? I switched to Firefox primarily for the download accelerator DownThemAll which works really well. Also, just a thought, when right clicking on the desktop, there are two places to check for gadgets; at the bottom of the right click menu and under the view settings at the bottom. I believe the latter has to be turned on first. Is it a particular gadget that won't download; have you gotten other gadgets to work before?

Works OK for me; might want to try this.

1. Click on "Download" and then click on "Install".




2. Save the gadget to the desktop.


3. Double click the downloaded gadget or just drag and drop it in the gadget window.

Just an idea, if it won't install, try saving it to the Desktop and then stick it in C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets

Also make sure you have sidebar.exe running before installing, (you can do this by right clicking your desktop and clicking "gadgets")
