gadgets have stopped working

upon restart I message popped up the said windows gadgets have stopped working.
what do I do?

Do you have Internet Explorer 11 installed (even if usually use Chrome)? If so, that causes issues.

If not, and a restart doesn't correct your problem, try this 1st.

Start> In search box type turn windows features on or off> Enter

Scroll down to Windows Gadget Platform> Uncheck it and scroll to the bottom and click OK

You may be prompted to restart the PC. Restart and reverse the process. Tick the box next to Windows Gadget Platform and press OK. See if that works, if not, post back.

I had the clock displayed before & i try to drag &drop & it will not stay .the other gadgets will display
but not the clock.
on a side note when i tryed to get more gadgets this was displayed

Yes, MS has discontinued gadgets as a security risk. They want everyone to move to windows 8. Not saying there might not be a security issue, just that is sure fits their agenda...
