My Friend has just Loaded Football Manager 2010 on Windows 7 32-bit and it says Game Cannot Run: Failed to set up Graphic System
I looked at whether it was His graphics card but it was up-to-date

I am totally bamboozled

We need tons more info. what comptuer, graphics card, ram, game specs, OS, etc

The only thing from what you listed for his specs that comes close to meeting the requirements for the game is the ram, the rest doesn't even come close.

If you're referring to upgrading his computer, sorry to say that isn't going to happen. He has an old Socket A based computer, and they have been discontinued for quite a long time now. Only option is a new computer.

LOL... um... yeah, that's the big question, and probably why he's having issues

You'll really really really want to know what card he has, so you can....

1- Figure out if the game will run on it
2- Get the drivers updated, if needed

Socket A is now five generations behind the current AM3 socket from AMD, and were being phased out about 6 years ago.

And that card is well under the specs for the game. At best if you could find a cheap (and I mean really cheap) used 7600 GT, then the game might run. Unfortunately anything that could run the game is going to cost more than the entire computer is worth, and not really worth doing as when you do get a new computer you won't be able to move the video card over to it.

I have figured it out, the Direct x was not there, but i ahve told him to get a new PC but he is adament to upgrade his old one, also on the game his computer performance and speed is Half a star out of 5, what can he do to speed it up?

Just like buying a video card for it, that was a waste of money as there is nothing available today that uses it anymore. All computers sold today are using either DDR2 or DDR3, with most being DDR3.

Then you need to make him understand that there is nothing left to upgrade in it,

1. motherboard/socket, discontinued 6-7 years ago

2. CPU for said motherboard, discontinued 6-7 years ago

3. AGP discontinued. Some of the card manufacturers were still making the odd one up until just recently, but any of those cards are worth more than the entire computer is worth (over here if you're really lucky you might get around $50-75 for one of similar spec)

4. DDR ram, while still available to buy (and only for people like your friend to possibly extend the life of an old computer, or replace faulty modules) is a non-issue as it is pretty much dead and buried

There's really not much more he can do with that system. stormy has already told you there's not much left in that system.

Honestly he can't expect to play the newer (as in a lot newer that his current system) games with that system. And even if the games do run, is he getting anything out of them in terms performance???

I don't his financial situation, but if he wants to game on a PC, he'll need something better than what he currently has.

I am a bit nervous building one , but i would give it a go, but i know if i get it wrong its goosed

Financially you'd be better off building your own with parts off ebay(or wherever) just as long as you have the technical know how or there are some decent ones around that will max the majority of games. Take for example the one below, this is going to be around the cheapest you will find that will do a good job.
