Game freezes and loud noise

So while playing Red faction Guerrilla steam edition my screen went black and I heard a loud buzzing sound from my monitor. Any suggestions?

Cyberpower PC
Intel i7 940
18 gb of ram
Nvidia 660ti card
Windows 7 64 bit

This has happened twice in 1 month.
I had to reboot my comp after this happened.

Your video card might be overheating. Check your fan speed and temps in your GPU to make sure that the fan is turning fast enough to keep things cool when you're playing the game. I had the exact same problem with a Radeon 7770. I manually set the fan to 60% and no more problems.
