Game keeps crashing, the process hangs when I close it in task manager

Hi,
I've got a laptop with windows home premium 64 bit installed on it and I use it for gaming a lot. It's high spec and there's usually no problem but I've been having problems with guild wars 2.

Basically the game crashes a lot. When it crashes, I end the application in task manager but if you go to the processes tab the process is still there and clicking end process or end process tree doesn't close it down. The game won't restart while this is hanging so I have to reboot the laptop. It's getting very annoying and is happening a couple of times a day. Does anyone know how to fix the problem? Is there a way to kill processes quickly or does anyone know what I can do to stop the crashes full stop?

I've tried opening task manager and closing the application then closing down the process which doesn't work. I tried ending the process first before ending the application but that still closes down the application and leaves the process hanging. I've tried to end the process in the cmd line but it still leaves the process hanging or if I do it before ending the application it just closes the application and leaves the process hanging.

Does anyone have any ideas? I've tried googling the problem and all I found was lots of people with the similar issues and no solution.

We do need you to post your PC specs? Also have you tried reinstalling the game and looked for any patches?

2GB Nvidia GeForce GT 650M

I don't know about the sound card, sorry! Hope this helps. The game is quite new so patches are applied every so often and there's a few bugs in it. The game client is up to date though I haven't tried re-installing it.

Additional information: When I have to reboot the laptop to end the process, I have to just hold down the power off button until it shuts down, if you click restart or shut down from the menu, it starts to shut down but won't completely, the screen will go black but it just hangs like that and you have to knock it off completely by holding down the button. Also, a few hours ago before I made this post the game had crashed so I went here then turned it off and it couldn't restart properly. Windows wasn't able to start properly, when I turned my laptop on I got an option to run windows normally or run startup repair, if you picked to boot normally it would start booting, display the "starting windows" screen then go back to the menu, startup repair didn't detect anything the first time I ran it then the second time I left it running went out of the room and when I came back the log in screen was being displayed and I could log in as normal.

I don't know what caused the issue above but I suspect having to forcibly power off the laptop isn't helping? I hope I've given you enough information and any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried updating your graphics drivers? Also a broken file in the game could be a possibility,I would suggest to try and reinstall if updating your graphics drivers doesn't work. Could also be that a file in windows 7 is corrupted and causing the hangs and crashes also, open up command prompt by holding the windows key and pressing R at the same time. You will have a window come up called RUN. In run type cmd and then press enter. You will have a black window pop up and in the black window I want you to type " sfc /scannow " exactly like that but without the quotations. Windows will start to scan your system for broken files in windows,it will attempt to fix most if any are corrupted and when it's finished then you reboot in your machine again.Lastly what I want you to do after is download malwarebytes and do a full scan of your computer and scan it for virusus and malware and when it is done and if the program found any. Then tell malwarebytes to remove the malware and when it's done reboot again.

I had the same problem, The beta drivers from nvidia did the trick, but that causes Shogun 2 to crash now and again. The joys never end haha.:p
Any way get the beta drivers and hopefully that should work for you too.
