Ok, so I performed a chkdsk and seems to be fine.

I have run sfc/ scannow with the only error being the uiautomationcore.dll. I have deleted this file from system32 and syswow64. I ran sfc again and it still comes up with not able to repair this file, even though they are not there? which makes me think I haven't deleted them properly?

Not sure what to do next, I have a windows disk, and I ran a system repair (not with the disk but without, from boot menu on my PC) Took about 5 seconds, not sure if that is correct, found an error with sfssync02.sys, not sure if that is significant?

Not sure what to do now? Will it make a difference if I use my disc to repair?

Not sure on a lot of things actually? FSX comes up with a slightly different error (Fatal error) same result, game doesn't start. Although a few people on the FSX forums say the error is due to the UIautomationcore.dll in the FSX folder. This may be related to the one in the system32 folder though?

uiautomationcore.dll is actually in 3 different locations on a 64bit OS.

System 32, SysWOW64, and another in the winxs folder

If you do a seach for the dll in the Windows folder, youll find it. Its in winxs/wow64_Microsoft .......

But you really should replace it it with one thats good, rather than just delete it.

I take it a system roll back with a image is not a option?

a system roll back isn't really an option because I don't know when this problem started, I haven't played those games effected for some months until the other day.

I ran a search, and it only found the last one in my FSX folder, I don't even have a winxs folder? could it be hidden?

Can I replace these files with my windows 7 disc? I haven't put the disc in yet, so that is still an option.

I just want to get this uiautomationcore.dll sorted so that I can eliminate it as the cause or discover it as the cause.

I can upload the .dlls for you not a problem if thats what you want to do on my system their found in actually four places.
C:\Windows\System32
C:\Windows\SysWOW64
C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-uiautomationcore_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_0c0d85465bcceb37

You may have to do it in safe mode you may not I don't know but you will have to rename the files after you take ownership of them.

yeah ok, I found all 4 + 1 in my FSX folder.

Can I just delete these and replace them with the ones you upload?

they all have padlocks next to them, does that matter?

Cheers

That means that you don't have ownership to them and in order to replace them or delete and replace you'll have to gain ownership of them. A really easy way is to put that "take ownership" in you context menu like in the link I gave you in my post. Once there all you have to do is right click on the .dll and take ownership of it..

ok cheers.

I have followed you "take ownership" link and added it to my registry, however when I right click on the file and click take ownership the padlock is still there, even after refresh?

Remember to make a backup before deleting or changing anything. Just in case of accidents or other unforseen issues.

Replacing these should be fine, but Im always overly cautious when making any changes.
I even recommend a Backup before letting Windows Updates update anything.

I managed to take ownership of all 4 files, and replaced them with the ones you provided. Whilst in safemode.

Now when I had removed all of them from my system (recycle bin) I ran sfc /scannow and the log created still come up with "cannot repair uiautomationcore.dll" files even though they were not in the folders???? how does that work?

Anyway replaced them with the ones you uploaded and the problem persists, I really thought I was going down the correct avenue with this, but just hit a brick wall!

Hey Dean sorry to hear that. Are you able to backup your saved games to a dvd or a backup drive? Most game data for saved games resides in %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local or My Documents or the game folders themselves. I'm just asking because I'm thinking that maybe you can go ahead with a repair install or a clean install. A repair install some program functionality will be affected and will not work. A clean install well you know what that means. There may be more coruption than meets the eye here and if it were me I would backup my important data and such and do a clean install. You could go with the repair you may get lucky it's up to you, but still backup your data.

Major update on this problem!!!!! I frigging SOLVED IT!!!! And I didn't have to do a repair or anything

I may have said bofore that I recently added a New Mouse (Razer), and a new keyboard (G510). (I think you see where this is going.......)

Well I read somewhere someone had a problem with programs crashing etc. and all they did was unplug there usb headset or something and everything worked, well I thought I would just unplug my mouse and keyboard adnuse a 2 bog standard ones (my old ones) and what do you know............. everything works, all the games I had a problem with start straight away!

Thank F**K for that, no reinstall needed, just the problem of finding out why my new mouse or keyboard are causing the games to crash!

I am going to narrow it some more now and see which one is the culprit, then go from there. I'm just so relieved to find the problem, i needed to tell you!

I came within a nats cock of reinstalling windows!

ok turns out it is 3 things causing all my problems, i shall list them,

Logitech G510 Keyboard
Belkin n52te gaming pad
Razer Imperator Gaming Mouse

If anyone of these items are plugged in when I try and open the games, it will not start and I get the crash error game has stopped working. Unplug them, even without restarting the PC or anything, and then try and open the game, BAM games work!!??!

Question is why can I not use these Peripherals to play certain games?
It's not that they don't work I'm using the G510 to type this, but they are causing issues? How can all 3 be causing the same issue? weather they are plugged in one at a time or all 3 together I get the same results. You may say driver problem, but they all use different drivers, no? I tried them in different USB ports same thing.

any advice on this?

Download this and run it Dean with all the devices plugged in it will see if the "latest drivers are installed". I know it may be a long shot but lets see. The only other thing I can think of is they may have compatibility issues.

Ok, When I check device manager, the keyboard and mouse seem to have generic drivers, and there is about 4 for each one?

WOW that's alot nice little proggie huh, I would just Google them and update them from the main manufacturers website. The Renesas is what my Nec 3.0 uses as well it's an intel driver so thats good.
