GearHead mouse registers as generic mouse, but won't show all buttons

I have a PC GearHead model 9000 wireless mouse. When i plug in the dongle to a USB port, it shows clearly as a generic mouse and begins working. The L/R buttons, as well as the scroll wheel and the thumb buttons seem to work, but the actual scroll wheel click does not. Is there something that needs to be done in order for it to recognize the click wheel button? The mouse itself didn't come with drivers of any kind.

Normally a non convention mouse comes with a software so you can assign different functions to the buttons.
Does yours came with a CD or a link on the manual to install?

Looked up GearHead model 9000 wireless mouse
Amazon Gear Head Universal Wireless Optical Mouse, Red (MBT9650RED)
Universal tells me it's plug-n-play.
Have you tried it with another computer?
If you have & same results, I'd say it's mouse wheel or its internal connectors.
I would return it for refund or replacement.

Plugged it into another computer. Same issue. This makes me sad because I really like these mice. They're very heavy and robust. Any ideas on alternatives?

PC Gearhead is the driver site for this device, but it does not appear to reference a "9000" model - there is a contact link for support on that page so you may follow up there.

I did check their recent comments on their support and have to say it's not great - so hope you are lucky and get a good tech
