that graphics card is too underpowered to run Aero. Just be glad Windows won't let you enable Aero and move on ;)

I am almost sure 5200 runs Aero. Let me see what I can pull up or suggest.

That is a Vista driver for 5200 desktop. That's not what you want because it will not install without editing the .inf. It can easily be done though if needed.

I suggest using this and trying your luck first. If done right, will use latest NVidia driver.

Seems there are two models of op's adapter. One with 32 and one with 64 mb. 32 will never have Aero. 64 can.

I used to have a 5200 and I have a hard time believing it will have any acceptable performance with Aero. But hey at least it may be possible to test. That's more than I expected. ;)

Redalert, did you succeed in installing Windows 7 on your laptop with GeForce FX Go5200?
I will try a direct update Windows XP > Windows 7.

Of course Aero would be fine, but is Windows 7 working fine -at least without Aero- with this graphic card?
FX 5200 and FX Go5200 are not the same cards. The first one for desktops, the second one for laptops.

Thanks for your answer!
How did you install Windows 7? From Windows XP or Windows Vista?

Because it seems that Windows 7 do not provide any driver for our graphic card, I suppose that your Windows 7 directly re-uses the driver installed on the previous OS. A Vista driver should be better.
My current GeForce FX Go5200 driver (on Windows XP) is version 6.14.10.6610. This should be the latest version, but probably 7 can't use this XP driver. Which version do you have?

I installed the upgrade from xp to 7 - 32bit pro. Actually I found the driver some where, but i cant remember where. Not sure if its a vista driver on laptop, i believe it is - date 12/19/06 version 7.15.10.9754. Sorry i'm not that much help with it. I would have posted the file, but i dumped it after install.
