I seem to be having some problems with my icons. I started my computer one day and most of my icons on my desktop, taskbar, and start menu were generic. Here are the effected files:

I know the list isnt needed but I figured the more info the better. Anyway I have tried deleting the IconCache.db file (as reccomended by most forums) and restarted my computer and it did not work. The programs work but its kind of annoying that the icons wont work. What do I need to do to fix this?

Hi Techguy12

I had exactly the same problem a couple months back though not with as many programs. Mine were mainly with Microsfot programs. I tried everything and got help from numerous sources but to no avail. In the end I totally re-installed windows and "touch wood" the problem has not re-occurred.

It's a bit of a stab in the dark, but possibly it's something in the registry, telling the programs the icons are at X location, when they arent, hence giving you the standard Generic icons.

Maybe do a registry scan with CCleaner and pray that it finds and fixes the problem.
