German government warns against using MS Explorer

LOL, you people and your firefox is god comments crack me up. I REALLY, REALLY hope that everyone switches off IE, so I can have my happy safe IE and sit back and laugh at everyone telling everyone to switch to IE back from firefox once it gets hacked to hell because it would be the highest attack point because it has the highest market share. Honestly think about it people, if FF had the most users, IE would be left alone because the honey pot is FF exploits at that point.

Many people I know are using Firefox because they think Internet Explorer really sucks, and they say that 'Internet Explorer is not capable of blocking all advertisements and other web content that can be so annoying'.

I strongly disagree with them, because I haven't experienced any big problems caused by Internet Explorer throughout my career, however maybe that's because I (unlike them) am aware of the world of difference it makes when there are several security software solutions systematically sitting simultaneously on top of my system. Ssssssss...

Another browser war thread. Well not intentionally but why does it always end up that way? They all have their +'s and -'s. It is the users diligence in the end that makes the difference. IMO. Fabe

*Last sentence said by other people- not true. Talking about default features, IE can block all advertisements, or "Pop-ups", natively because it has a "Block all pop-ups" settings. I have 3 browsers- IE, FF, Safari, and I use them in a frequency of that order. I'm dissapointed FF doesn't have that setting when I use it.

lol, this is so typical of our government:

Lord Avebury (blog, bio) has tabled a written question in the United Kingdom House of Lords yesterday, which reads as under:
Lord Avebury to ask Her Majesty’s Government whether, in the light of the recent announcement by Microsoft that Internet Explorer was used to carry out the cyber attacks which prompted Google to say it will withdraw from China, they will review the use of Internet Explorer throughout the public sector. HL1505
Source: House of Lords Business (26 January 2010) and Eric Avebury: Internet vulernability
Lord Avebury mentions that the Parliamentary IT authorities are actively discouraging the use of alternative browsers such as Chrome so it is great to see that he is holding the government accountable for their policies.

According to UK parliamentary procedure, the government is obliged to provide a written response to his question on or before 8 February 2010. I think it will be interesting to see what they have to say.

Lord Avebury is an active campaigner for the rights of ethnic minorities in the UK and also those who are British nationals living abroad. He is also a member of the EU Select Committee which considers EU policy on protecting Europe from large-scale cyber attacks.

Yes, I fully agree with you, but they still don't. That was my point exactly.
