Get better FPS while using less processor power??

While playing League of Legends I get better FPS while setting my max processor power around 70% rather than the full 100%.

At first I thought it was a heat issue but the problem occurred within 15 minutes of having the computer on, also it seems to go away almost immediately after setting the max processor use to a lower value.

So you ask, why not just play without maxing settings? Because now with limited processor use I cannot run FRAPS at the same time. If anyone knows what may be causing this, any advice would be great.

Maybe the processor is throttling because of heat.

Your video device is using shared system ram on a laptop, which traditionally are horrible gaming platforms to begin with. That you are gaming on that system with any kind of tolerable rate to begin with is amazing to me.

Yes that would be the same laptop I am speaking of, and it was running fine with the CPU on max settings a couple days ago. Is there an application besides task manager that monitors the percentage of CPU being used more thoroughly, or that can detect throttling.

There is an option to throttle CPU rather than speed up the fan, I have tried having that both on and off with no such luck.

Is there an application besides task manager that monitors the percentage of CPU being used more thoroughly, or that can detect throttling.

Resource Monitor will tell you the current "Frequency" of the processor. The Frequency is Throttling.

Start Menu > Search "Resource Monitor"
