Get folder to go at the end of folder listing (when sorted)

Hi,

I frequently use a folder name "Other" to group files that don't fit in any other folder. The problem here is that this folder falls somewhere in the middle of the rest of the folders when I sort alphabetically (which isn't very pretty). Would it be possible to get this folder after the rest of the folders?

Presumably, I'd to have to find a character that comes after "z". Whatever ordering Windows uses, it isn't the Ascii table that many people refer to. If anyone knows this, please let me know!

Putting a $ (dollar) sign in front of the name puts the alphabetical order to the top.

Would that help ?

I'm already using ".Others", which also puts the folder to the top. It works, but I prefer it to go to the bottom :)

What about Z_Others ??
I see what you mean, but that will put the folder in front of every folder starting with a "Z".

There are some links in post #5 you may find useful
Thank you! The 'disable auto arrange' option is very useful. The only thing I'm concerned about is how permanent it is, i.e. where is the information stored? If I remove the temp files, will the sorting data be gone? If this information is stored in a specific file it would be useful to make a backup of it so I can easily restore.

I might go with this solution but I haven't ruled out the alphabetic method. So if anyone knows characters that come after "z", or is sure none exist, please let me know...
