Get W10 (HDD) keep W7 (SSD)

Lately i've heard rumours that the get W10 "Free" upgrade option will end 31/12/2017,
and before the argumements start YES you can, even tho the original offer expired a while back.
(i assume because they didnt make the target)

Anyway back to my solution.
I suspect many like me have upgraded to an SSD, which i fully intend to run W7 on for years to come.
BUT i still have my W7 (same licence) spinner HDD sat in the cupboard

So before the deadline is reached im gonna dig it out and update that to W10.
This will register the machine on MS's servers, remember that its a lifetime licence.
(swapping HDD/SSD does NOT invalidate either licence).

Then drop my SSD back in
Contrary to some reports the W7 licence is NOT revoked or removed.

Like many >>Home premium<< users, and Pro to a lesser degree, i prefer to be able choose what i want to do.
Its one of the aspects that has kept me away from W10 on my main rig.
this is NOT a discussion about spying, so please dont go on about it.

Its purely an option and my FREE W10 back-up plan .

The "free" upgrade extension has never, to my knowledge, even been acknowledged by Microsoft officially, so cannot be ending on 31st December this year What Is ending is the free offer upgrade for users of Assistive Technologies which some users have used even when they do not qualify. Some people have assumed that as the one offer is being withdrawn that the other will also be withdrawn. This may or may not be the case but as Microsoft has not said anything about the original upgrade still being valid it is impossible to predict what will take place.

It does appear to me that part of Microsoft's initial goals for Windows 10 - To reduce the number of active MS Operating System versions in use, is still driving the free upgrade offer and may continue for some time. just as likely is the possibility that all free upgrades will end at the end of this year - even those that have never existed

MIcrosoft does also appear a lot more lax in enforcing licensing of operating systems these days, with the unacknowledged extension to the free upgrade I can understand this as licence enforcement takes a lot of Time and therefore money and I'm not sure how much profit MS makes from selling Home/Pro licences, (considerably less than VL and MAK Enterprise I would imagine).

Of course Microsoft does have the option of enforcing the terms of the EULA at anytime in the future so something that works today may not in a weeks, or Months or years, time

Microsoft doesn't tell me anything. I think they lost my phone number.

The only thing I know for sure is, Micorosft changes it's operating methods and minds and most of the time don't tell anybody.

I do believe but can not confirm that Microsoft want as many Windows 10 as they can get sold or given away just to get people off of older Windows operating systems.

Their is a simple reason and you know I like simple.
Windows 7 and older cost Microsoft money to keep updates and such.
The newer Windows 10 makes Microsoft money.

I just bought Windows 10 about 3 days ago.
With a little tinkering I like it so far.
Now I have Windows 7 Pro and Windows 10 Pro.

Still keeping it simple.
One can have the greatest hardware in the world and it means nothing if one doesn't have the proper operating system to make them all work together.

So far Microsoft Windows has done that for me and my systems.
End results is $140.00 to $145.00 spent on a Windows operating system is well worth the money.
